Upcoming Events

There's some fun junk coming up in Febuary in the lolita world. And it is all happening within the span of one week.

On February 22nd, I will be walking in my first lolita fashion show. I'm pretty nervous, I've never done anything like it. It will be at Royal T for a lolita theme Tune in Tokyo event. I'm going to be wearing my
Jewelry Jelly coord, which is pictured under this.

I entered Gothic Lolita Wigs daily customer coordinate contest, and I won on Febuary 1st! It was pretty cool to go on facebook on my lunch break and see this:

My friend Naomi took some pics of me the week prior so I submitted those. If anyone is in the LA area, Naomi is a great photographer and I believe she does some $25 specials.

The following Saturday, I'll be attending a Valentines tea party!
I bought my ticket last month. This tea party is pretty convenient, as it will be in Pasadena, an area I am very familiar with. I get anxious when tea parties and meets are far away because I'm always worried about getting lost.

Anyway, I am unsure about what to wear to this. I just bought a Baby bolero, which coordinates nicely with my Bodyline soft cream chocolate coord.
I am also anxiously awaiting word from a Washington seller on EGL for a mint Chess Chocolate JSK. If I hear back from her soon and do end up getting the JSK, I'd like to wear that to the tea party. If I do end up getting it I will post my coordinate plan for the Chess Chocolate!

One last thing, I found a new way to style my lolita wigs. I've struggled for a while in regards to wigs, as some of the twin tail wigs make my face look too big. However, without the twin tails, the coordinate is unproportionate! So I took a base wig, and pinned it up!
I like this much better. It doesn't weigh my face down, but it is still relatively proportionate to the rest of the coord.

Till' next time!

Back to the Basics!

I recently purchased a couple of basic things for my wardrobe.

This handmade mint bow will replace my mint alice bows. I'm trying to gravitate away from alice bows, because they make me look like I'm trying too hard to look young.

I'm going  to buy some mint crystals to add to this and my mint shoe clips!
Also, I am actually thinking about selling my Alice bows. As of now, I have the Milky Berry bow and the Jewelry Jelly bow.

I also picked up this blouse. This is my first legit lolita blouse, as all my other ones have been altered from thrift stores.

Luckily, that huge bow at the neck is detachable.
This blouse will go with a lot of my coordinates, which is why I bought it! Melty Mermaid Princess, Merry Making Party and Jewelry Jelly. The long sleeves may even give Jewelry Jelly a more classic and adult look. I'm pretty excited to get it in the mail.

Random late night post!!

I should be sleeping right now as I have a 14 hour day tomorrow, but I'm afraid I can't!

So I started testing out my Melty Mermaid Princess coord today, as I got my wig in the mail. But I wanna blog about my upcoming trip first!
My boyfriend won us a trip to Montana for an all inclusive stay at the Molboro ranch. I don't even know if I spelled Molboro right lol. Anyway, Andrew joined Molboro for all the free giveaways, and we just happened to win this trip. They give you a ton of free stuff, and they pay for everything! Food, airfare, alcohol, I am so stoked. They even give us a free camera, and since Andrew got one for his birthday, I'll likely be getting the new one. *yay!* It's going to be freezing in Montana as it is still January, but I can handle it!

Anyway, I started testing out my Melty Mermaid Princess coord today.  I ended up buying a wig from GLW's Farrah collection. I bought one called Showstopper. I was so stumped on which wig to buy for this coordinate, because I really wanted a whimsical looking one that I thought only the classics would be able to give me. Unfortuantely the only classic I wanted was sold out, so I decided on this. It's so beautiful in person, and I feel like I finally found a wig that compliments my facial shape.

I also bought a $10 navy blue cardigan, that I'll be wearing over my sax blouse. I'll likely keep the 6% stars for my wig, but am still trying to think of a more oceanic theme for hair accessories.

As for a purse, I am still stumped. I almost made a post on EGL with the full intention of begging other girls for help on picking a purse, but decided against it. I'll figure it out myself eventually!

Anyway, here's a quick, simple shot of my test run.

I think my decision to deviate away from OTT sweet was a good one. Now that I'm 25, I want to feel beautiful as opposed to just, well, over the top! I may even have a buyer for my Candy Treat set *gasps* remember that!? I'll keep my bittersweet stuff, but I think my days of parading around in huge pink dresses and drag queen wigs are over.

Birhday Fun

Janurary 1st is my birthday, and this year I am official in my mid 20's. I can tell that this is going to be a big year for me, just in the sense that I can feel some sort of a change coming on. It makes me pretty nervous, but I am confident that I'll be fine. Anyway, I started the New Year off right, by doing a lot of fun stuff for my birthday as well as buying myself a few goodies.

On my birthday, my boyfriend took me to the Museum of Death in Hollywood. It is one of the most interesting places I have eve€r been to!
I went once in 2009, and they have done a ton of renovation since my last visit.

Here's a nice view from the outside. On the inside, they have rooms and rooms full of unique stuff. The serial killer room is one of my favorites, because they have letters from people like Richard Ramirez and paintings by Gacy. I really like it because you can get a definite feel for how psychotic these people really were, and I just find that shite fascinating!

They also have this really awesome display from the Heavens Gate suicide. Behind glass, you can see the real bunk beds from the event, dummies stuffed in the real jumpsuits and nike sneakers, and the actual Clorox those people used to poison their applesauce.
 How cool is that?
I've stolen these pictures from other blogs, as the museum doesn't allow photographs. Another thing I love about the museum is the adorable beagle named Buddy! He belongs to the owners, and when I went in 09, he let me give him a belly rub, and he showed me all of his toys that he keeps in a display coffin. It was the cutest thing ever. He's still there, still just as cute but not as energetic. He came to say hello while my boyfriend and I were in the movie room, and he let me pet him for a little while. Such a sweet dog!

After the museum, my boyfriend took me to see the movie Battle Royale at an old family owned theater on Melrose.  It's definitely one of my top 5 favorite movies now. It is so violent, yet funny at the same time.It was so awesome of Andrew to take me everywhere I wanted to go. He not only drove me everywhere that day, but he payed for my movie ticket and my ticket to the museum. Hes so cool!

Now on to the presents I bought for myself! I got a little bit of money for both christmas and my birthday, so I put more than half in the bank (not to be touched for lolita) and used a small amount of it for myself.

I bought this Melty Mermaid Princess skirt. This is my first ever item from Baby.  I'll likely have to get it tailored, as I have a hard time fitting into brand skirts. This skirt has proven incredibly difficult to coordinate, but I do love a challenge. I am planning on making all of my accessories, but am completely and totally stumped on what purse to use. I want to make the coordinate look as whimsical and ocean themed as I can, so I'll be incorporating a lot of shells into the outfit. I'll post the coord plan as soon as I know what purse to use.

This next item comes with a story. A seller had listed this on egl, and I waited a week to respond to it because I was trying to decide if I wanted it or not. Then one day when I was at the goodwill, I found a mint blouse that would look PERFECT with this. I then decided I wanted this dress, and I wanted it in time for my birthday. So the Saturday before my birthday, I left her a comment with my paypal address and told her to invoice me for it. Turns out, she's on vacation, and isn't even getting back until the 10th of this month. So this dress isn't quite definite yet, but I'm really hoping that the whole transaction goes through.
This would be my first Innocent World purchase as well. It's called Stella I believe, and the colorway is chocolate. I want this for my chocolate coordinate. If the whole transaction does go thruogh, I'll post my coord plans. The plan is nearly identical to my bodyline soft cream chocolate coord-which of course I have yet to wear.

Well that pretty much sums up everything. I'll be posting my new coords soon!

December Event Photos and Possible Style Change

So as I mentioned before, December is filled with fun lolita events.

December 9th was the Rune Boutique at Royal T.

Here's my Candy Treat coordinate:

I snagged Doki Doki stars! Their at the top left of my headbow.

Here I am with my friends Flora and Amy:

The event was a lot of fun. There were a ton of Lolitas there, and I got to see a lot of my friends. My boyfriend drove me there, which was really nice of him, considering I can't see at night. The wig I'm wearing is the same strawberries and cream blend from GLW that I wore at Little Tokyo during the Nisei meetup. I cut it up, and now I feel like it looks more feminine.

December 17th was the Christmas Meetup. I decided to wear Merry Making Party.
This coordinate was thrown together because of the Milky Berry shoe problem.
I took the base wig of the pink x blue blend, and styled it into pigtails. I found a pepto bismal colored blouse at the thrift store a few days before, and it coordinated surprisingly well with the skirt. MMP has large pink cakes in the print, and the frosting in the cake matched the color of the blouse perfectly. The big pink bow on the side of the Toy Fantasy socks ended up matching with the pinks as well.

Suzanna and I. She makes all of her own lolita clothing!

My new friend Jenna! She's so cute and minty!

And here's a stupid derp shot of me testing out the coord:

Now on to the fun stuff.
After seeing these photos and the ones from past meetups, I've decided that I'm not satisfied with the way I look in OTT lolita. It could be the way my face is photographing or something, maybe I'm not doing my makeup right? I currently use Mac Matchmaster foundation, and while it's great for everyday use, I feel like it doesn't photograph well. I'm considering trying Revlon photoready foundation for when I wear lolita. I've also been watching a lot of online tutorials about how to contour your face. I already know the basics of highlighting, but I'd like to start sculpting my cheekbones so that my face doesn't look as round in photographs (and in general) Also, I won't be buying anymore pastel wigs, because after seeing the Christmas photos, I've decided pastels look like crap on my skin tone. I've also decided to stop wearing detachable pigtail wigs, because of how unproportionate and sloppy they make my coordinates look. I may just switch to regular sweet lolita, as opposed to OTT.

With that in mind, I just purchased this wig from GLW:
GLW came out with the curly lolita bob line a few weeks ago. They had a Christmas sale so I decided to try out the bob. This wig will not coordinate with anything I currently own, but because I am toning down my style, it should fit with normal sweet outfits. I bought it in auburn because I really like how the color looks with my skin tone.

I'm a tad worried that this wig will make my face look too round, but we'll see. If it ends up looking good, I'm excited to try the other colors of this style. They have an adorable mint one.

Well, it'll be Christmas soon. Better start wrapping!

Edit 12/26: I look like Little Orphan Annie in the Auburn Rust Bob.

Milky Berry Mixup!

In my last post, I mentioned that I bought the wrong shoes for Milky Berry. Therefore, I have to go back and change a lot of my plans for the coordinate.

I finally decided to buy my mint shoes during Bodyline's $1 shipping deal. These shoes came out to $34 shipped, so I thought I was getting a great deal. Here is a stock picture of the shoes I got, the mine are on the far left under the yellow ones.

Here's my photo of the shoes, please pardon my crappy picture as I use the webcam on my mac.
The problem with these shoes is that they are lime green. You can't really see it in the picture, but the color is terrible looking.  They aren't the nice mint color that Milky Berry is. They do not coordinate with the outfit at all.

I decided that I needed a new pair of shoes and quick, being that the Christmas meet is less than a month away. Luckily, Bodyline's shipping promotion was good all of November, so I broke down and bought
red shoes.
I figured if I was going to go against my original coordinate plan of mint shoes, I may as well buy them in a style that I love. I bought the red RHS in the top right.

So that leaves me with the question of mint at the bottom of the coord. With my Berry Berry socks and my red shoes, I have jack shit for mint towards the bottom, leaving me with an unbalanced coordinate. Luckily, thanks to etsy, I was able to find some beautiful, felt shoe clips in the perfect color. I should be able to remove the red ribbons from the RHS, and clip these on. While small, these clips should hopefully balance out the red and mint. I am also considering gluing on some pretty crystals to make these stand out a bit more.

Now for some other junk I've added to the Milky Berry coordinate.

I recently bought this cardigan on the egl sales. I am planning on altering the sleeves so they are not flared. I may change out the ribbons too, as they are a little frayed (the cardigan is used)  I may also have to take it in a bit, but I'll decide as soon as I get it.

Of course, wearing an all red cardigan will offset the mint towards the top of the coord. Therefore, I am planning on buying some mint fluffy stars to attach to the cardigan.
Fluffy stars are wonderful, because they make great coordinate pieces.

A few weeks ago, I bought an AP novelty necklace. It looks just like my pink Tokimeki, but it's a bit longer. I bought the red one in the middle. Turns out Angelic Pretty was giving these away during a promotion some time ago, which is why I got it for pretty cheap at about $30. <Normally Angelic Pretty jewelry is a hell of a lot more expensive than that>
I also got some gold Chocomint stars in the same sale, which will go nicely with Milky Berry.

As for home made accessories, I am planning on making the following things:

1)  Large vanilla bean ice cream scoop ring with strawberry syrup
2) Strawberry tart hair clip
3) Red and white polka-dotted bows to match the bows in the print.
4) Red wristcuffs

Once I get a camera I'll be able to take pictures of all of the accessories I make for my coords. :)

December Plans

Righty O then. It's December already. There are a few things going on this month that I'm pretty excited about.

First, on December 9th, 6% Doki Doki will be in Los Angeles at Royal T. Royal T was where the first meet up I attended was. 6% is a fairy kei company, who specialize in crazy off the wall fashion.
6% also carries the over the top sparkly star clips, and I'm hoping to be able to snag one or two.
I'll hopefully be able to get these in blue, as I already have pink chocomint stars. Though I wouldn't mind getting both.
Candy is one of the themes of this event, therefore Candy Treat will be perfect for this. I hope I have enough time to make some new candy jewelry for the event.

The second event I'll be attending this month is a huge Christmas-time meetup. The meet is being organized by a couple of the local girls, and it is so huge that people from all over the state are attending. There is going to be a secret santa, tea, games, and lots of other crazy stuff.
I'm going to wear Milky Berry to this event. I am scrambling to finish up this coordinate, I bought what I thought were mint shoes and they turned out to be lime green.  I'm also pretty busy getting my secret santa gift together.
In addition to everything, I am also going to attempt to sell some of my cupcake charms during the swap meet. I'm planning on opening my "cupcake" shop after the new year, and want to see if lolitas would buy my product. Here's a quick example of some of my earlier work:
I made these before I knew anything about jewelry binding, which is why the tops are just sticking out like they are. But my plan is to make 20 peppermint cupcakes, and test them out on the lolita community. The problem with selling such things to lolitas is that most of them know how to craft sweets. But most lolita cupcakes are just gobs of fake whipped cream with pearls and cabochons sticking out of them. Mine kind of look like the ones that moms bake for their kids birthday parties. I'm hoping the realistic look will give me some sort of competitive edge. We'll see, I'm not going to get my hopes up too much. More photos to come!
